In 2016, my son and I decided to let our beards grow as part of a friendly contest and also as a social experiment of sorts. What transpired subsequently was a surprise to both of us. As our beards grew longer and more substantial, we increasingly started to see ourselves as being set apart from the mainstream world. Not in a bad or uncomfortable way, but as a freeing and transformative experience in nonconformity. The world started to see us differently and we started to see the world differently. As a result, we began looking for ways to share our thoughts about what it means to be bearded in a largely beardless world and hopefully to help cultivate a culture of thoughtfulness and positive awareness. So, in 2017, ‘The Beard Apostle’ concept was created as a platform to celebrate beards and to advocate for living a bearded life. Literally of course, but also figuratively by using ‘beardedness’ as a metaphor for simplicity, honesty and naturalness. We are working to create an authentic, values based, lifestyle brand and invite you to join us on this journey and help spread the message.
